Every three years, 30,000 high school youth and their adult leaders gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) Youth Gathering. Next year’s destination: Houston, Texas (June 27-July 1, 2018)!
According to the ELCA’s official website, the purpose of the event is “interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship,” through which “young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives.”
Although the event is more than one year away, we wanted to kick off their fundraising efforts now. Pastor Eli says we normally send 10-12 Trinity youth to the event, at an estimated cost of $1,000 per person to cover registration, airfare and hotel expenses. It’s a big expense, but every dollar will help!
For the month of April, we invite you to contribute to this important campaign via our Tithe.ly online giving plan. Simply click on the GIVE NOW! tab above or via this link. It will take you to a secure website where you can make your contribution ($5 minimum). Be sure to select “2018 ELCA Youth Gathering” on the “Give to/Please Choose” drop-down menu.
